Artist Statement

Vanessa Fernández is a Miami Born, Cuban Armenian Jewelry Designer and bench jeweler. She studied at VCU Arts, School of Fine Arts, Craft and Material Studies in Richmond, Virginia and has since traveled the world working with brands from John Hardy in Bali, Indonesia to Lorenz Bäumer in Paris, France and partnering with Christies and Tasaki in Tokyo, Japan.  She has a private, full jewelry studio in Miami, Florida where she designs and renders in gouache techniques, sculpts wax models, alloys her own ethically sourced gold, casts, and crafts her pieces entirely by hand. Vanessa recently unveiled her newest collection ‘Curva’ which simply means ‘curve’ in Spanish, suggesting the sculptural movement consistent in her work.  Curva reflects Vanessa’s interest in sculpture, astral formations, creation, and cycle of life, beginning and end, time & repetitive movement and ultimately seductive contact with the skin. She takes pride in sourcing her materials ethically and sustainably.
